Product Description

Add some colour, variety and a new feel to your kitchen with this tajine home cooking kit. But what?s a tajine pot?

A traditional tajine pot is made from heavy clay which has been painted and glazed. It consists of two parts ? a flat base which is circular and has low sides, and a conical cover which rests inside the base. The base is heavy and is made to withstand constant use. The cover acts like an oven and is sealed to retain moisture and heat while cooking. There is a small hole at the top of the dome that allows air to escape during cooking.

Tajines can be used either in the oven or on top of the stove and the food is simmered over a low, indirect heat for several hours. They are ideal for slow-cooking lamb, chicken or beef in a medley of spices. A rich, aromatic flavour is produced as the herbs and spices mix beautifully with the food in the unique cooking environment of the tajine pot.

The tajine pot can also be used as a serving dish! When your tajine is cooked, simply remove the conical lid and place the delicious-smelling mound of food in the middle of the table. Yum!
